Pencaitland
In the shadow of the scenic Lammermuir Hills
lies the village of Pencaitland, to the south of which lies one
of Scotland's many whisky distilleries.
Glenkinchie Distillery combines rich local ingredients
of barley and water to make whisky in the traditional manner, and has
done here since 1837. The Visitor Centre provides a tour of the distillery,
explaining its fermenting pots and internally steam-heated still
house, as well as the chance to sample one of Scotland's finest malts.
