Situated in Victoria Park, the Fossil Grove is a 300 million year old forest which was uncovered by accident during the construction of a pathway through a disused quarry at the western end of the park.
Visitors are able to view the remains of the fossilised forest from 1st April until 30th September each year.   Victoria Park itself was opened to the public in 1886, the year of Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee
