Situated in Victoria Park, the Fossil
Grove is a 300 million year old forest which was uncovered by accident
during the construction of a pathway through a disused quarry at the
western end of the park. |
| Visitors are able to view the remains
of the fossilised forest from 1st April until 30th September each
year. |

Victoria Park itself was opened to the
public in 1886, the year of Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee |
