Australia |
N/A |
My name is Tommy Lannigan. I
was born in the Linthouse Building in Govan on
12/9/21. Married Mary McNaulty of Helen Street,
Govan. Had 8 children altogether (2 died), worked
in the Scottish Cables in Renfrew until 1976 when
I emigrated to Sydney, Australia. I now live in
Queensland and have recently been back to
Scotland, I have been back 3 times since
emigrating. My last trip was something I will
always remember as I had many happy outings and
visits with family members, especially Theresa
and Mary Lannigan who gave me a really good time.
I would like to hear from anyone who lived in
Govan or the Linthouse buildings or any family
members in Scotland. Also I would like to contact
an old friend who went to Canada just after the
war by the name of Willie (or Bill) Donnigan. |

Emigrated to Canada Nov. 1946,
age 3-1/2. Have lots of memories of walking with
my Mum in Botanic Gardens I believe, holding on
to the side of the pram. Wrote poetry about some
of the memories from the viewpoint of a child of

Someone in Ireland put it to music and they sing
about it in the pubs. Anyway we live in the
Thousand Islands area of Canada. Are coming to
Glasgow in May (an entire month, 2 weeks in
Ireland, 2 in Scotland to trace roots.) A
one-time trip for us. Ross has spinal cord injury
from a train derailment near Toronto. We are
bringing our youngest son and wife, in thirties.
Looking for family and friends of my parents.

Genealogy, with emphasis on McGregors |
I spent some time in the Clyde
during the war on MV Miralda, a MAC-ship, or
Merchant Aircraft Carrier. Since then I have done
lots of things but finished up researching my
Scottish ancestry. I descend from the marriage of
John Cameron and Elizabeth McDougal in Glasgow on
1 August 1834. If anyone else can make the same
claim I should be very glad to hear from them.
The couple must have migrated to Manchester soon
after marriage. |
