Kilbride
|
...
welcomes you to The Clyde Valley, Scotland. Leisure, Shopping,
and History!

East
Kilbride is Scotland's
sixth largest town with a population of over seventy thousand and is
regarded as Scotland's most
successful "new town".
 |
What
was a rural village less than fifty years ago now has four shopping
centres, and outstanding leisure and entertainment facilities. The
leisure facilities include: a number of golf courses, ten pin bowling,
sports centres and a nine-screen multi cinema. East Kilbride also
hosts South Lanarkshire council's main offices. |

Loupin'
on Stane

The
steps which helped travellers mount their horses in the past are
still standing today. |
In
the Old Village, traces of the days long before East Kilbride became
a New Town can be found. The village was used by travellers in the
days of horse-pulled coaches, and in front of the 17th Century Montgomerie
Arms, there are steps that helped the rested travellers mount their
horses. |
