Stevenson, Robert Louis
Robert Louis Stevenson, arguably one of the greatest
novelists of his time, was the author of many books and poems. His works
include Kidnapped,
Treasure Island and A Child's Garden of Verses.
The Scottish novelist was the son of Margaret
Balfour and revolving
light designer Thomas Stevenson. His grandfather was lighthouse
pioneer Robert Stevenson.
Robert Louis Stevenson suffered ill-health all his life,
living the last years of his life on the island of Samoa, where the climate
suited him better.
