Shand, Jimmy
Scottish accordion player who inspired Scotland's country
dance music scene. Winning the hearts of thousands, Jimmy Shand led the
country dance music with The Jimmy Shand Band - especially in the late
1940s and 1950s. He even inspired other folk singers to write about him,
resulting in songs such as Jimmy Shand's On the Wireless.
Jimmy Shand was born in 1908. He died early in 2000.
His son - Jimmy
Shand Junior - carries on his traditions.
